Spirit of Doyle Missing At Easter Road

A good day out was had in Edinburgh yesterday. - unless you are on the fringes of Celtic's first team. In a glorified friendly, which Scott Brown managed to dominate. few players came knocking on Gordon Strachan's door. It goes without saying (I'm just about to say it) Celtic will improve on Saturday. The only way is up. The result in Aberdeen was pay-back time for the two Jimmys, expect similar in the forthcoming season - we are entering a new entente cordiale between the sheep and the shameful, witness the Lennon episode.I'd like to thank GNER for the free beer, curry and First Class facilities.

Today is the 28th anniversary of the 4-2 game. It remains the most exciting and emotional football match I've ever witnessed. God rest John Doyle's soul. He epitomised Celtic. No less a deity than Frank McGarvey said no-one could hold a candle to Doyle. Frank revealed that Johnny wore a Celtic scarf to training. I remember that fool, Andy Cameron, trying to slag wee Johnny off - "when he cuts himself shaving he bleeds green and white". Two things outwith the 4-2 game stick in my mind regarding Johnny - his goal against Real Madrid and a game versus no-one in particular when he injured himself turning a corner into a throw - percentages meant everything to the wee man. I loved him then. I love him now. RIP.

WG - you're getting very good at these blog articles - a short yet poignant piece. He was one of my dad's favourites - so that was default setting for me too.

What's with GNER - generosity or penance?

U.

Ulysses - cheers for response.

A friend of a friend was working the buffet trolley.

I suffered badly yesterday, believe me.
